Saint Laurent has doubled its sales. Slimane is also famous for his photography. He is known for dark rock n roll chic that inspires rebellion as well as ultra thin models. Well, it looks like rebellion has turned the tables.
This week the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the UK banned all of Slimane's Spring 2015 Saint Laurent ads. The ads feature an 18 year old model and appeared in ELLE UK. The models ribcage is showing and her knees and thighs appear to be the same width.
The ASA ruled the model appeared "unhealthy and underweight". Last month the ASA also banned a MIU MIU ad.
I know this is a little different than my usual posts, but it was in April that France announced a law banning too thin models in runway shows and with the pictures that are constantly thrown at us and our daughters in the media, I thought it was relevant .
