Hot Fun in the Summer Time

Hot, hot, hot is all I can say. Shorts are not always appropriate, so I dressed up a little today.

I don't know about you, but all I can think about lately is staying cool! My days no longer consist of outfits with jeans but rather shorts. After dropping my daughter off at camp, I stopped at a J Crew Factory Outlet. I bought the above shorts in navy and black, amongst many other things for all my family members. In two weeks, I have already gotten my money's worth out of the $30 shorts.

As much as I love finding great new designer pieces, I get just as excited for a steal like this. Mixing high and low is how we do it.  #Getoveroverspending - right?!

Neutral Territory

Beige, brown, taupe, tan and black... I have mentioned before that I tend to dress in neutrals and have to work on adding color to my wardrobe. You can't get much more neutral than this outfit, but I was comfortable on a very hot summer day.

Too Thin is not In!

 

 

Hedi Slimane is the Creative Director for Saint Laurent. He was hired in 2012 and since he began,
Saint Laurent has doubled its sales. Slimane is also famous for his photography. He is known for dark rock n roll chic that inspires rebellion as well as ultra thin models. Well, it looks like rebellion has turned the tables.

This week the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the UK banned all of Slimane's Spring 2015 Saint Laurent ads. The ads feature an 18 year old model and appeared in ELLE UK. The models ribcage is showing and her knees and thighs appear to be the same width.
The ASA ruled the model appeared "unhealthy and  underweight". Last month the ASA also banned a MIU MIU ad.

I know this is a little different than my usual posts, but it was in April that France announced a law banning too thin models in runway shows and with the pictures that are constantly thrown at us and our daughters in the media, I thought it was relevant .

Go ahead enjoy your summer, eat a sandwich, but workout and be healthy!!!

Who Wears Short Shorts?

It is hot and time to wear shorts. Wear your shorts during the day, but don't be afraid to dress up nice shorts for dinner. Today I am wearing shorts in both a dressed up chic way and a sporty casual way.

Above Shorts, Dries Van Noten, Bag Saint Laurent, mine is sold out but this is close, and I love it.

Taking shorts to a more casual level to drive carpool and run errands:
